Five Guys gets green light for Nottingham restaurant

Five Guys, the upmarket burger chain, has been given planning permission to open a second site in Nottingham and create 40 jobs.

Five Guys will open the restaurnt on Redfield Way, near the city’s Showcase cinema. The 2,500 sq ft newbuild unit will follow the brand’s city centre outlet on Long Row. The new unit will be designed by AHR Architects, which has an office in Shrewsbury.

The move will bring 40 jobs – a mixture of full- and part-time positions. A planning statement says: “It is expected that a high proportion of these jobs will be taken by local residents.”

It continues: “The location of the building completes a quadrant of restaurant units, enhances the active frontages of the area, and provides a complimentary offer to the existing mix of uses on the site.”

Five Guys was started in the US in 1986 by the Murrell family from Arlington, Virginia. The family still play an active role in the business.

Five Guys has two other East Midlands outlets, in Leicester city centre and on the Meridian Leisure Park.
