Developer reveals plans to create ‘Shoreditch of Nottingham’

The developer behind the multimillion-pound overhaul of one of Nottingham’s landmark buildings says he wants the finished scheme to have a similar feel to the Shoreditch area of London.

As we exclusively revealed over the weekend, Shoby Investments has lodged plans with Nottingham City Council to transform the City Buildings on Carrington Street into over 43,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. The firm bought the building, in the Southern Gateway of Nottingham, in April last year.

Work on the £8m redevelopment has already started on transforming the upper floors of the building, according to the developer.

David Shelton of Shoby told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We have started on a strip out where possible and hope to complete within 18 months.

” We are targeting businesses requiring large open working spaces. The design will be adaptable for one or multiple tenants and the space will have an industrial design feel over three floors whilst retaining retail on the ground floor.”

“The building will be returned to its former glory with renovated shop frontages creating a similar feel to the Shoreditch, London,” added Shelton.

One complete, the building will be retained as an asset in Shoby investment portfolio. The revamped space will marketed by FHP Property Consultants.
