Four-car collision closes A1

The A1 in Lincolnshire is closed in both directions between A606 (Stamford) and A607 (Harlaxton) due to a “serious” collision involving four cars.

Lincolnshire Police are in attendance.

Road users wishing to continue their journey northbound are advised to follow the “Solid Circle” diversion symbol and exit the A1 on to the A606. Travel westbound along the A606 until Melton Mowbray. In Melton Mowbray, head north along Burton Street , then left on to Leicester Street (one way), north along Wilton Road to the A606/A6006/A607 Wilton Road/Norman Way junction. At the junction, turn right on to Norman Way and continue to the A606/B676 Thorpe Lane junction. Turn left on to A607 Thorpe Lane, heading out of Melton Mowbray. Continue along the A607 to re-join the A1 at Harlaxton.

Road users wishing to continue their journey southbound are advised to follow the “Hollow Diamond” diversion symbol and exit the A1 at the A607 (Harlaxton). Continue along the slip road, over the Swingbridge Road roundabout. Turn right on to the A607 and continue westbound through Harlaxton, Croxton Kerrial, Waltham on the Wolds, thorpe Arnold and Melton Mowbray. At the A607/A606/B676 Norman Way/Thorpe Lane junction, continue straight ahead on to the A606 turning left on to Burton Street. Travel along the A606 through Burton Lazars, Langham, Whitwell and Empingham to re-join the A1 at Stamford.
