£150m Nightingale Quarter development taking shape

A new image has emerged of the £150 million Nightingale Quarter development on the site of the former Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.
Wavensmere Homes has released the detailed CGI of the view towards the iconic Pepper Pot South building in Derby just a few days before the site is expected to be opened to potential buyers.
The image of the Pepper Pot South building, a selection of two- and three-bedroom homes and a new cycle path is just one of a handful which have so far been released by the developer.
Just a year after purchasing the land, the firm has already received almost two thousand enquiries from people wanting to buy the properties.
Donna Smith, sales director of Wavensmere Homes, said: “We have just been inundated with enquiries since they were opened for the homes in the summer and our estate agent haart have been fielding calls daily for them.
How the site looked before work began
“I think because it is a new city centre development which is quite a rarity nowadays, and people having such an affinity with the site and the Pepper Pot structures, this has made it a magnet for buyers of all ages to wanting to live there.”
The site was demolished in 2015 and was untouched until being taken over by Wavensmere Homes last autumn. It will become a “green oasis” for residents which will include an open air gym, children’s play areas and planting areas.
The infirmary’s old pepper pot buildings are being retained for community use, and will include a café, gym, exhibition space and meeting rooms.
