Junkyard to open second venue in West Bridgford

A West Bridgford restaurant and bar is set to close after its owner said the venue “simply has not performed in its current form.”

Holy Calzone, in the Lady Bay area, has closed and will reopen as a second outlet for the Junkyard Bar & Kitchen brand, following the first bar in Nottingham city centre.

A statement from the owners said: “We really hoped to successfully deliver our Holy Calzone venture in Lady Bay. We tried tweaking it and changing things around for over a year and although we’ve had some successes it simply has not performed for us in its current form.

“But we are reluctant to simply abandon this beautiful building and the Bay. We really like being here, and so after much deliberation we have decided to take a punt and rebrand and open our second Junkyard at this site. So get ready to welcome Junkyard Bar & Kitchen.

“Hopefully most of you will know Junkyard – a friendly, informal craft beer bar that serves simple but amazing small plates and sharing dishes in a relaxed, all-day vibe. We recently celebrated our 5th birthday and over those five years we have grown a very loyal fanbase. We are confident we can deliver some of those successful elements over here.”

The new Junkyard will see bring forward a small refurb in the renovated church on Trent Boulevard, with the menu tweaked to include more sharing and small plates to sit alongside breakfasts and pizzas.

The statement added: “You will see more exciting craft beers and premium drinks and we are confident of being able to serve beyond our 10pm curfew. We will of course continue to support local sports teams and local businesses and suppliers.”
