One of Nottingham’s biggest employers is “on track” to succeed after a year of challenges, its CEO says.

Deborah Bolton told guests an exclusive TheBusinessDesk.com lunch yesterday (3 December) that Addo Food Group is on the up.

What, then, does Bolton view as the key to success?

She said: “My vision and objectives are very clear. Clear communication is crucial. It’s important to be fair and consistent and deliver on our promises to people within the business.

“We recently took on a new non-executive director, and he said, ‘Deborah, you do the difficult right thing.’ That’s ultimately what makes the difference.

“In terms of management style, I look at it like this: It doesn’t matter who you are, the question is whether or not you can deliver. I hold people to account. If you say you’re going to do something, then you have to do it.”

Bolton says Addo, which manufactures a staggering 8.6 million pork pies during Christmas week and employs 2,500 people across its sites in Nottingham, Poole, Shaftesbury and Market Drayton, has further plans grow the business in its sector.

The firm’s Nottingham Riverside site is now set to feature on an upcoming episode of the BBC documentary series Inside the Factory with Greg Wallace.
