Future of scheme that could create 1,000 jobs to be decided next week

Long-held plans to turn a former shooting club into a major logistics facility on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border could be voted through next week.
Newlands Developments want to turn a 127-acre site that runs alonside the M1 into a £230m warehouse complex that it says will create around 1,000 jobs across seven individual units.
Members of North West Leicestershire’s planning committee will sit next week to vote on the 850,000 sq ft scheme, which sits off Netherfields Lane, near Castle Donington and next to the Aldi distribution hub. It will also include office space.
Newlands owns seveal similar schemes across the UK. It is currently marketing a succession of yet-to-be-built developments under the Equites Park in Barnsley, Nottingham, Peterborough, Thrapston, Rugby, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Egham, Snodland and Basingtoke. The company also owns the Brackmills Gateway development in Northants.
The company was founded in November 2018 by the former senior management team of Roxhill Developments. It is backed by the Equites Property Fund.
