Controversial residential scheme given backing by planning chiefs

Controversial plans to build a five-storey residential scheme on the edge of Nottingham city centre have been recommended for approval – despite being thrown out twice before.
Ahead of its planning committee sitting next Wednesday (December 22), planning bosses at Nottingham City Council have given their backing to a scheme proposed by Wholesale food group Asiana wanted to build 14 one-bedroom and two 4-bedroom apartments at Raleigh Street in the city.
The moves comes despite similar plans being turned down in February 2019 and April 2019 and appeals from Asiana falling on deaf ears. Fresh plans were submitted last August by Rayner Davies Architects with more revisions.
The planning application is now being brought before the committee is brought to because the application is recommended for approval but planning obligations are proposed to be waived.
A consultation of neighbouring properties brough forward numerous objections from residents, including a loss a light from any new scheme to the neighbouring Portland Square flats and parking problems. Just one respondent was in favour of the scheme.
