Green light for major expansion to Colwick Hall

Colwick Hall in Nottingham is set for a dramatic transformation after city council planners gave the go-ahead to build a permanent banqueting hall and 40 extra hotel rooms at the historic site.
The new banqueting hall will replace a marquee that has stood on the site for some years, while the extra hotel rooms will be built to meet demand.
The plans will see three two-storey buildings erected, which will accommodate the 40 extra hotel rooms and the banqueting suite.
These will be made up of Heywood House, which will house 18 hotel rooms, Lovelace Court (11 hotel rooms) and the Wentworth Orangery, which will include the banqueting hall and 11 hotel rooms on the first floor.
Colwick Hall is a Grade II building that dates back to 1776 and was built by then owner John Muster. The Hall was sold to Nottingham Racecourse in 1896 and was used a pub and accommodation for jockeys and grooms. It was then sold on to the Nottingham Corporation in 1965, when it fell into disrepair. Local builder Chek Whyte won a competition to restore it and was sold to Pearl Hotels and Restaurants.
