Derby-based construction firm Hodgkinson Builders is set to launch its first home sales division after more than 30 years in the housebuilding business.

The newly formed division, known as Hodgkinson Homes, will enable the company to sell new houses on the open market and is expected to create a number of new apprenticeships and trade jobs.

Announcing the launch, operations director Robert Hodgkinson said he was “keen to get good people on board” and that the firm “will always be looking for local people first.”

The news comes as the housebuilder begins work on Rosarium Heights, a 10-home development off Clifton Road in Ashbourne.

Hodgkinson said: “We are passionate about housing and building dreams. This makes perfect business sense as we have all the resources – and the demand for housing is there, so why not?

“For many years, we’ve had the skill set, the labour and the enthusiasm to do this. It’s a natural progression to our core business that I’ve been keen to do for a while.

“This development in Ashbourne provides the ideal opportunity to launch Hodgkinson Homes.”

Kerri Bywater of Bagshaws Residential in Ashbourne, who is working alongside Hodgkinson Homes to market the Rosarium Heights development, added: “It’s wonderful to see a Derby company grow so successfully over the years. It’s also fitting that Robert chose to launch this new division with the development in Ashbourne, which was recently voted as one of the most desirable places to live in the UK.”
