Team members from the Nottingham office of marketing, PR and digital agency Cartwright Communications swapped desks for ducks last month to walk the length of a marathon along Grantham canal, raising more than £2,000 for a local charity.

The business – headquartered in Nottingham with offices in Birmingham and London – helped to raise £2,295 for Emmanuel House Support Centre, which works to support homeless, isolated and vulnerable adults in the city.

Starting in Bottesford, the kitted-out Cartwrighters strolled swiftly across county borders, passed by 12 canal locks before reaching the mighty River Trent and eventually back to the blue front door at St Mary’s Place in The Lace Market.

Completing the trek in just under ten hours, the final tally was 27 miles.

Rose Hayes, director at Cartwright Communications, said: “We’re so proud of all our team who took time out of their weekend to enter this marathon challenge, along with those who joined at different points along the route.

“We’re also grateful to all the friends, family and clients who kindly supported and donated to the fundraiser and supported Emmanuel House. This event is just one of the many ways our agency strives to give back to our local communities, as well as being a fun and active way to bring the team together.”

Denis Tully, CEO at Emmanuel House Support Centre, said: “We are thrilled with the outstanding fundraising of Cartwright Communications. With no statutory funding for our core services, it is the support of the wider community that enables Emmanuel House to succeed in helping people out of homelessness and we are deeply grateful for the donation. Thank you to everyone involved.”
