Derailed train closes Leicester-Market Harborough line

Disruption is expected “until the end of the day” after a derailed train forced the closure of the railway line between Leicester and Market Harborough this morning (12 December).
EMR says the “low speed” derailment occurred during planned engineering works near Market Harborough.
The incident is expected to disrupt services on the Sheffield/Nottingham/London and Corby/London routes.
Network Rail has reportedly rerailed the affected train and begun repair work on the line. This will ostensibly be completed by 4pm today.
In a statement, EMR said: “We are unable to run any trains via Market Harborough. Our trains can still run between Leicester and Kettering by diverting via a different route. This route would mean that we would be unable to stop at Market Harborough.”
One train per hour will run in each direction between Sheffield and London St Pancras via Chesterfield and Derby, stopping at Kettering but not at Leicester.
One train per hour will also run in each direction between Nottingham and London St Pancras via Leicester.
Trains between Corby and London are expected to run normally.
