Wilko reshuffles boardroom as restructuring plan gathers pace

Troubled Nottinghamshire discount retailer Wilko has reshuffled its senior leadership team as part of its turnaround plans.

Finance director Dave Murphy has been handed the new role of chief finance officer, succeeding Karen Mackay who has quit the firm and will leave next month (March).

Amanda Jones, retail director, has been made chief operating officer and will now be in charge of stores, logistics and central operations.

Katie Price, HR director, is also leaving Wilko and will be replaced by the promoted Anne-Marie Haydock.

Chief executive Mark Jackson said: ““To deliver our strategic priorities we must remain focused, and our leadership structure needs to be fully aligned to achieve this. Having now reviewed the current structure, we need to remove both the duplication of functions and operating costs. As part of this review, we’ve had to take some necessary and difficult decisions as we create a new operating structure that helps stabilise the business, from which we can then drive the business forward.”

The moves come just days after Wilko announced it was axing over 400 jobs as part of a major restructuring drive.
