Flannels given green light to clean up on Lister Gate

Flannels’ long-awaited move into Nottingham city centre looks to have taken a significant step forward.

The multi-brand retailer, which has been part of Frasers Group since 2017, has been granted planning permission for a new shop front at 11-13 Lister Gate in Nottingham, which is the site of the former River Island store.

Flannels was first mooted to be moving into the unit on the summer of 2021, after River Island closed last February. However, despite initial works being carried out to clear the site, the unit has been vacant ever since.

Flannels already has an outlet on Bridlesmith Gate in Nottingham. It is unclear whether this branch will remain open when the Lister Gate venue opens its doors.

The news will come as a boost to Nottingham’s Lister Gate, which has suffered since the closure and subsequent part-demolition of the Broadmarsh shopping centre.
