Major furniture manufacturer falls into administration

A major East Midlands furniture manufacturer has fallen into administration.

Acclaim Upholstery, which has its head office in Long Eaton, has called in joint administrators Martin Buttriss and Carol Best from Begbies Traynor.

The move comes two weeks after Acclaim filed a notice of intention (NOI) to appoint administrators.

According to its latest accounts, made up to 31 March 2022, Acclaim employs 144 people.

The accounts paint of a picture of a company struggling with labour and raw material shortages – as well as price inflation. The accounts cover an eight-month period, during which time Acclaim made a loss before tax of £456,144. Turnover dropped from £10.6m to just over £7m.

Acclaim was founded in 1983 and has been making bespoke furniture ever since.
