Over 50 jobs saved as bakery sold in pre-pack deal

Over 50 jobs have been saved after Jacksons the Bakers, a family-run bakery based in Derbyshire, has been sold in a pre-pack deal.

TheBusinessDesk.com exclusively revealed that Jacksons was in trouble in August. On 13th and 24th of last month, the firm posted notices of intention to appointment administrators. The business had faced challenging trading conditions which led to administrators being appointed earlier this month.

Jacksons was set up by Cyril Jackson in 1944 when it sold war-rationed bread.

Ryan Holdsworth and Danielle Shore from Leonard Curtis were appointed as the joint administrators, overseeing the deal.

In a joint statement, they said: “We are pleased to have completed this transaction which will enable the continuing operation of the company’s bakery business and, importantly, safeguards over 50 jobs.”

The administrators were supported by Tom Paton, Curtis Blackham and Rachel Piper of Irwin Mitchell’s restructuring and insolvency team.
