Charnwood Borough Council’s planning committee will decide this week whether to approve the construction of the first 107 homes at Broadnook Garden Village, Leicestershire.

The village, between Birstall and Rothley, could eventually consist of 1,950 houses.

The council previously gave the green light for Broadnook in 2020, with funding from Homes England for infrastructure, such as a new A6 roundabout.

Davidsons Homes and Barwood Homes purchased the land last year. However, they were also part of the original 2016 application for Broadnook, along with the Palmer-Tomkinson Trust and the Cooper family.

Future residents of Broadnook can expect various amenities, such as a supermarket, school, care home, sports facilities, business land, and an assisted-living retirement village.

If approved, the first phase will consist of various homes, including detached and semi-detached houses, one-bedroom units , and homes with two, three, four, and five bedrooms.

Davidsons Homes has committed to making 37 of the homes affordable.
