Indian street food chain lands at Birmingham Airport

Leicester-based Chaiiwala has opened its second airport location in four months at Birmingham Airport, offering travellers authentic Indian street food.

The 1,100 sq ft kiosk in the departures area will bring 20 new jobs and represents the chain’s 115th store globally, made possible through a £500,000 investment.

Muhummed Ibrahim, chief executive officer at Chaiiwala, said: “We are super excited to bring our varied food offering and enhanced choice to travellers at Birmingham Airport. Chaiiwala is a different food concept to what is currently on offer at airports and travel hubs in the UK and we are looking forward to welcoming passengers to the store.

“Our goal is to enhance the experience of our customers who are travelling by providing exceptional dining options and the addition of Chaiiwala to Birmingham Airport is a key part of that vision.”

Guests can enjoy signature items such as Karak Chaii, Karak Coffee, English-Ish Breakfast, Masala Chips and Samosas, with options to order at the counter or in advance via their phone for on-the-go convenience.

Low-level seating will be available while easily viewing flight information boards and boarding gates.

The new store will be operated by EG On The Move, a long-term partner that runs several Chaiiwala locations in the UK, including two Drive-Thrus in Bolton and Blackburn.

Richard Gill, commercial director at BHX, said: “It is great to see the new Chaiiwala and EG On The Move catering outlet open at Birmingham Airport. After months of planning and building, customers travelling out will be treated to Chaiiwala’s fresh concept, bringing the flavours of Indian street food directly to the departure lounge in a convenient, accessible way. Their menu, which has vegetarian options and is halal-certified, offers convenience for customers on the go.”
