Developer reveals milestone Gateway approval

How the scheme will look

Developer Cassidy Group Ltd has achieved the first Building Safety Act – Gateway 2 approval for any new build development in the country.

Gateway 2 is a stop-go point in the Building Safety Act that requires building control approval before construction can begin on higher-risk buildings and, in Cassidy’s case, has been achieved on its PBSA scheme in Beeston, Nottingham.

The planned 419-bed building in Beeston will be ready for use for the 2026 academic year and serves University of Nottingham students.

A spokesperson from Cassidy Group Ltd said: “This crucial step is unique as the first in the sector and reaffirms our commitment to delivering safe, sustainable, and high-quality developments.

“As we move forward, we remain focused on setting the highest industry standards. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure we meet every requirement, and this approval is a testament to their dedication and expertise.”

Cassidy Group Ltd says it is looking for investment partners for its current and future developments, including 3,000 student beds and 1,000 PRS apartments across England over the next two years.
