Football club owner wins Labour nomination for elected mayor
The co-owner of Grimsby Town Football Club and serial entrepreneur Jason Stockwood has been named as Labour’s candidate for the first directly-elected mayor of Greater Lincolnshire.
As a result of the nomination, Stockwood will step back from the board of the Mariners until the outcome of the May 2025 election.
A statement coming out of Blundell Park said: “We can confirm that Jason’s investment in Grimsby Town Football Club will remain unchanged and chair, Andrew Pettit, will now manage 1878 Partners Ltd investment in the meantime.”
