£10m Brian Clough Way improvements approved

A £10m scheme to improve the traffic flow and safety for cyclists and pedestrians on the A52 entering Derby has now been approved by Bondholder Derby City Council with work starting in 2017 at the earliest.

Plans include:

– creating extra lanes on the A52 junction by the Wyvern
– signal-controlled crossroads at the junction of Wyvern Way and Derwent Parade
– improvements to help pedestrians and cyclists, including on new shared-use routes and crossing facilities.

David Gartside, head of traffic and transportation at Derby City Council, said: “We’ve been working hard to bring forward proposed improvements at the A52 Wyvern junction. Consultation with the public in late 2015 confirmed that there was considerable support for road improvements to relieve congestion and provide enhanced facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.”

Money to fund the improvement is expected to come from D2N2 Local Growth Fund.
