Lidl gets the green light for Carlton store

German discount food store Lidl has secured planning permission for the development of a 25,000 sq ft store at Carlton in Nottingham.

The news comes afer the firm’s recent opening in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.

The 3.5 acre site, which was acquired for Lidl by David Hargreaves of FHP Property Consultants, sits next to the former Co-op food store.

Lidl, which aims to nearly double its existing portfolio of 630 UK stores to 1,200, is aiming to open in Spring/Summer of 2017.

FHP says it has a number of other transactions in the pipeline with Lidl throughout the East Midlands.
