A Derby accountant has been announced as the new President of the Nottingham, Derby and Lincoln Society of Chartered Accountants (NDLSCA) for 2016/17.

HSKS Greenhalgh managing director, and former president of the Derby Society of Chartered Accountants, Kultaran Singh, takes over the role from Simon Gray of Pembridge Gray.

George Acquah of Rolls Royce will take on the role of deputy president and Kultaran’s fellow HSKS Greenhalgh director Anshu Mehan will be vice-president.

Kultaran Singh said: “During his 12 months as President Simon Gray has reinvigorated the NDLSCA, particularly where engaging with younger members of the profession is concerned, and I am all too aware of the responsibility I have to successfully build on this momentum.”

Law firm Cartwright King has hired four new recruits across its offices in Derby and Leicester.

Pree Brada, a barrister who will be based in Leicester, specialises in criminal defence and advocacy.

She qualified as a solicitor advocate in 2010, before transferring to the Bar, and has dealt in both prosecution and defence cases across the criminal spectrum, while regularly appearing in Crown Court.

Joining her in the Leicester office is solicitor Sukhdev Bisla. Specialising in criminal defence, Bisla has duty solicitor status, and also has higher rights of audience.

Cartwright King in Derby has also seen its team strengthened with two new appointments. Philip Pearson will practice in family law as a paralegal, having successfully completed the Legal Practitioners Course at Nottingham Law School.
Pearson brings with him experience of having worked on care proceedings at a local authority in Kent.

James Bainbridge is the second recruit, who will practice in criminal defence. He is an experienced crown court caseworker and is also an accredited police station representative, providing legal advice to those questioned by the police and other prosecuting authorities.

Rupert Hawke, managing director of Cartwright King, said: “We are committed to growing as a business, and particularly in the East Midlands, so we are delighted to welcome these talented new team members on board.”
