On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Leicester law firm Spearing Waite has added to its partnership with the hire of construction and engineering specialist Piet van Gelder.
He brings with him over 16 years’ experience in all aspects of construction & engineering and is also a specialist in public procurement and renewable energy.
He joins Spearing Waite as a partner from Lincolnshire firm Wilkin Chapman.
On joining, van Gelder said: “Spearing Waite is such a commercially focussed firm that it is an ideal fit with my expertise.
“The firm’s property team and client base has grown considerably over the past couple of years and it is great to be able to complete its offering of services to existing developer clients and new clients coming to the firm.
“I am also pleased to add depth in adjudication and arbitration to the dispute resolution team as well as establish a new renewable energy sector for the firm.
Managing partner Jonathan Wheeler added: “We have been looking to add depth to our construction and engineering offering and are therefore delighted to have been able to add someone with Piet’s experience and expertise to the team.”
Rachel Bennett
Derby law firm Flint Bishop has poached corporate solicitor Rachel Bennett from Gateley. She joins as partner.
She will be working alongside partner and head of corporate, Martyn Brierley, who was recently promoted to lead the Corporate team earlier this year.
