Center Parcs granted planning permission for Irish holiday village

East Midlands holiday complex Center Parcs has been granted planning permission for a new development in Ireland.

The new holiday village has been designed to be concealed within a 395 acre site at Newcastle Wood near Ballymahon. It will include 470 lodges and 30 apartments, a Subtropical Swimming Paradise, Aqua Sana Spa, shops restaurants and cafés as well as more than 100 leisure activities.

The development is also expected to provide a boost to the local economy by creating 750 jobs during the construction phase and up to 1,000 permanent jobs when operational. It is estimated that the new site will add €32m (£25m) to Irish gross domestic product (GDP) per annum, and around €1bn (£775m) over the next 20 years, making it the biggest private tourism development in the state.

Edmond Shipway will act as project manager, cost consultant and M&E consultant.

David Stevenson, managing director of Edmond Shipway, said; “I am delighted Center Parcs has received planning permission for its first venture outside the UK, having been given the opportunity to lead the design team in preparing what was a complex application. We all look forward to seeing work get underway.”
