On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Nottingham-based commercial property agent NG Chartered Surveyors is expanding again with its third new appointment in as many months.

Kelly Oakley has joined NG as a graduate trainee and will be working closely with director Sunny Landa and the NG team from September as she studies for her APC to become a chartered surveyor.

Landa said: “NG has a proud tradition of bringing through young graduates with the perfect combination of talent, hard work and crucially, personality. Kelly has just returned from New York where she was on a work experience placement at Sothebys. It’s this calibre of people we strive to employ at NG.”

He added: “Kelly has just completed a BArch (Hons) Architecture and MSc Real Estate at Nottingham Trent University. NG have always looked to work closely with our local universities , doing our bit to keep talented graduates here in Nottingham.

“Kelly has a broad knowledge of real estate and the local area but that’s not all, she has a black-belt in Taekwando, so… don’t mess with her!”

Oakley said: “I can’t wait to get started at NG. From day one they impressed me with the fact they are fiercely independent as well as their energy and appetite for success. It’s a privilege to be join the team.

“Like me, the NG team are creative and always seeking out new challenges for their clients. I’m relishing the opportunity to learn from the best in the business.”

Derby-based Babington Group has appointed David Gallagher as commercial director.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Babington Group, I am really looking forward to working in such a great organization.

“Babington are real pioneers, ahead of the game, with a will to succeed and have a genuine passion and belief in making that difference. I’m looking forward to the challenge and to help build on the collaborations and knowledge that is already taking place.”

Accountancy firm Mazars has welcomed this year’s intake of more than 170 trainees.

The new joiners, from school leavers to graduates and those on industrial placements, will be working across a range of service lines including audit, tax, outsourcing, financial planning, consulting, forensic and investigation services, employee benefits and actuarial. Trainees will be joining teams in almost every office including the firm’s East Midlands offices.

Trainees began their journey with Mazars last week at the firms’ annual “Ignite” welcome conference, and will receive intensive training as they begin their studies towards their professional qualifications, including AAT, ACA, ACCA, ATT, CFAB, CII, ICAS, AFA and IIA. Trainees enjoy working with a diverse mix of clients at Mazars and have a range of career opportunities, including international secondments.
