The Lincolnshire town of Spalding is set to receive a major jobs boost after the online recipe box company Gousto announced its intention to create 700 new roles.

The jobs will be spread across Gousto’s base in London and its distribution centre in the market town.

The news follows a recent £30 million funding round which catapulted Gousto past the £100 million mark in funds raised.

A series of high-profile names have invested in Gousto during its rapid rise, including body coach and bestselling cookbook author Joe Wicks and Unilever Ventures, the venture capital and private equity arm of consumer goods giant Unilever.

The company, which first began trading in 2012, is looking to bolster its technology team, and has indicated that the new jobs will largely cover data science, analytics and software engineering.
