22,000 sq ft supermarket scheme gets underway

How the supermarket will look

Work has begun on a new 22,000 sq ft Lidl supermarket in Mansfield.

Development and investment group Strawsons Property agreed a long-term lease with the retailer at the site in 2018 and has since worked alongside the popular supermarket brand to secure planning approval for the site, which was granted by Mansfield District Council at the end of last year.

The Leeming Lane site, which boasts 103 dedicated car parking spaces, is expected to bring dozens of new jobs to the area when it opens this Summer.

Adam Jones of Strawsons Property said: “We’re delighted to have reached this significant milestone in the development of the site, bringing back into use a currently disused plot of land and creating a significant number of new jobs in the local area.

“Lidl bring a fantastic offering to the area and we look forward to opening this and other stores with them in 2020.”
