Housebuilder reveals full sale of two key residential projects

Castleward, Derby

Housebuilder Lovell Homes has completed two key developments in the Midlands – Station House and phase two of Castleward.

The sites have seen Lovell breathe life into the former Stourbridge Police Station and create a new urban community in Derby city centre.

Stuart Penn, regional managing director for Lovell Partnerships, said: “Both developments demonstrate the versatility that housebuilders and their partners can apply to successfully regenerate and refurbish complex sites and contribute to solving the current housing shortage.

“We’re delighted that the quality of the offering has underlined that demand and given a new lease of life to a previously underutilised area of Derby as well as beginning a new chapter for Stourbridge’s former police station.

“This news reflects our ongoing drive to increase Lovell’s footprint within the Midlands – particularly in the East. With many exciting developments on the horizon, including two significant urban extension schemes in Burton-Upon-Trent and Corby, our focus remains on providing excellent new housing which includes affordable, high-quality homes that get first-time buyers onto the ladder.”

Station House saw the conversion of the former station into 31 one and two-bedroom apartments, including unique mezzanine and penthouse apartments. The homes all make use of the original police station features from the 1900s, including blue external doors, the full height ceiling of the old courtroom, and even the former cells.

Carl Yale, refurb director at Lovell said: “There is a huge demand for housing at the moment, so we have to think creatively about how we can provide new homes quickly through the utilisation of redundant spaces. Station House is an excellent example of the work being done by our specialist refurbishment team in the Midlands to create hidden homes through the transformation of previously under-utilised spaces, producing utterly fantastic new homes for local people.”

Meanwhile in the East Midlands, the second phase of Castleward has followed the previous phase and quickly sold 54 two and three-bedroom homes in the heart of Derby city centre via Compendium Living, Lovell’s joint venture with Riverside.

Castleward is a £100m redevelopment in Derby city centre that consists of new retail stores, coffee shops, parks, and a new primary school.

Trish Foster, regional sales director at Lovell, said: “We are really pleased that this phase of Castleward is now fully sold, and are looking forward to the next phase in the near future. The homes are ideal for first-time buyers, young professionals and buyers looking for excellent commuter links and local amenities. Best of all, the scheme is fully revitalising an unused area and creating much-needed modern, high-quality homes for Derby city centre.”
