Land deal to bring forward Notts mixed-use scheme

Just under 10 acres of land to the north of the village of Bilsthorpe in Nottinghamshire has been sold for housing and a new food store.

The development site, off Eakring Road, was marketed by Savills Nottingham-based development team on behalf of Harworth Group and has been purchased by Keepmoat Homes, which plans to build 103 new dwellings. Savills secured a small, on-site retail unit, which was bought by Lincolnshire Co-op and will be delivered as part of the mixed-use scheme.

Construction is underway on site with Keepmoat Homes looking to deliver the private and affordable homes into the market over the next few years, with the completions anticipated in August 2024. Lincolnshire Co-op aims to open its store in early 2023.

Ann Taylor, development director at Savills, said “Newark and Sherwood District Council has identified Bilsthorpe as an area for regeneration and development, and this site is highlighted as an important gateway location which manages the transition into the main built-up part of the village. It’s well-placed for Newark Northgate station and is also supported by a number of a-roads; making it easily commutable to Nottingham, Mansfield and a number of surrounding towns and suburbs.”

Tim Love, executive director of Harworth, said: “Having secured the outline consent on this site, it is great to see the development coming forward, delivering much needed housing into the area and an important new retail facility which will benefit both the new residents and existing community.”

Janet Stirzaker, head of partnerships at Keepmoat Homes, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to have purchased the land to transform the area into a high-quality housing development. At Keepmoat Homes, we are committed to building tomorrow’s communities, and constantly striving to bring excellent houses to brilliant locations. The two, three, and four-bedroom homes will be designed to support first-time buyers looking to get their foot onto the property ladder, along with upsizers and downsizers alike, and we’re driven to create a strong community feel both within and outside of the development.”

Alexandra Smith from Gateleys acted on behalf of Harworth Group, Sophie Bohill from Wardhadaway acted for Keepmoat Homes and Catriona Wheeler from Chattertons, acted for Lincolnshire Co-op.
