Forest’s stadium plans recommended for approval

Major amendments to Nottingham Forest FC’s stadium and a proposed residential development on the site have been recommended for approval by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Just over a year ago the Premier League Club submitted revised plans to redevelop the City Ground which included expanding the Peter Taylor Stand by 5,000 seats and the creation of a new, 169-flat residential block.

The Council’s Planning Committee is set to meet next Thursday (28 July) to consider the plans, with a decision expected “as soon as possible” after that date.

The public meeting will be streamed live on the Council’s YouTube channel, with the Club’s application being the only item of business discussed.

Ahead of the meeting, the Council says it has recommended green-lighting the proposals in its planning application report.

In March 2021, Nottingham Forest said in a statement that “redeveloping a stadium in an established residential area has added complexity”, but that it was “optimistic” its application would be successful during the 2021 calendar year.

While that didn’t transpire, it looks as though Forest supporters will have something further to celebrate next week.
