Receivers appointed to major shopping centre

The future of the Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester is under scrutiny after it was placed into receivership.

Property consultancy Savills has been appointed as joint receivers of the mall, according to reports in Leicestershire Live.

Savills has written to tenants saying the move won’t affect the day-to-day running of the centre and the management team will stay in place.

Report say the letter reads: “Our appointment is solely over the charged property, i.e. Highcross Shopping Centre. We have no involvement with the running of the landlord company itself.

“While we are working consensually with them, Highcross Shopping Centre Limited, the legal owner, have no authority to make decisions with regard to the centre following our appointment and all decisions relating to the centre will be taken by the receivers.

“All income receivable from the centre and all monies payable by occupiers, whether by way of rent or otherwise, is now due to the receivers.”

Savills said it is now in the process of appointing a property management firm to the huge, 130-unit mall.
