Housebuilder begins work on £7m scheme

Avant Homes East Midlands has started construction on a 1.9-acre site in Uppingham to deliver 20 homes with a gross development value (GDV) of around £7m.

The scheme will compruse a mix of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes. It will feature nine of Avant Homes’ housetypes, with prices to be released at a later date.

Called Deacon Meadows, the development received planning permission in April this year, with the first residents anticipated to move into their new homes in March 2024.

Of the 20 homes being built, 30% have been designated to affordable housing. Avant Homes has also committed to a
Section 106 contribution of around £183,000 towards local initiatives.

Avant Homes East Midlands managing director, Ben Felton, said: “Deacon Meadows follows the success of our other Leicestershire-based developments in Coalville and Market Harborough.

“Uppingham is a popular market town where there is strong demand for our hugely popular range of aspirational homes amongst first time buyers, second steppers and families.

“With Deacon Meadows close to the town centre and providing easy access to Peterborough, Leicester, Oakham and Corby, we are confident our homes will be of great interest to prospective buyers.”
