Developer given green light for 245-bed student scheme

How the scheme will look

A developer has been given the go-ahead to build 245 student beds at a site that had previously been granted planning permission for a private rented sector (PRS) development.

Cassidy Group evealed plans to turn the Chainey Place site on London Road in Nottingham, which had previously been given the go-ahead to be turned into 150 apartments, into student accommodation in February.

Nottingham City Council has now given the scheme the green light.

A planning statement reads: “Located on an important route into Nottingham’s city centre, the building will be seen as a high quality addition to an area that is undergoing some exciting new developments. The scheme will make use of a site which has been left derelict for some years and will create a new neighbourhood and much needed student accommodation.”

The scheme will comprise 190 beds within cluster apartments, 22 studios, 24 accessible studios, and 9 premium studios.
